There has always been a love/hate relationship between the sport of running and myself. When I’m out running on a hot day. sometimes I literally feel like curling up into a ball and hiding. Other days, I will jam out to music with the wind blowing in my hair, racing to the beat of the song. You probably think I’m crazy for running during the days I don’t want to but I enjoy running simply because I know that it’s good for my overall well-being.
Running is not only good for your soul but it keeps you physically strong while maintaining a healthy mind. Some people are naturally fast but sometimes, others have to put more effort in to be just as successful. One of my favorite aspects of running is that you are constantly growing and improving as an individual.
When I began to run cross country in the 7th grade, I struggled with not having enough endurance to finish a race. As my middle school years lead into high school, I was more determined than ever to be the best I could be. With my hard work and determination, I graduated with a 4th place overall in the 55m hurdles for New Hampshire.
Like running, there may be activities at camp that may be frustrating at times. If you are passionate about something that may be a challenge, don’t ever give up because there is always room for improvement.
